Save to the Server

Please save all of your student's work. Below are directions in the event that you do not have a shortcut on your computer's desktop.

At Lincoln - Click on the desktop shortcut named "Lab Share - Save Files Here!" If that is not available, click on this link \\sw-slfile01\Labshare
At Columbine - Click on the desktop shortcut named "ColumbineShare." If that is not available, click type this link into a folder browser \\sw-colfile01\
At Westwood - type this link into a folder browser
At Quigg - type this link into a folder browser

Update Windows

The Microsoft Windows Operating system will often have "Updates" sent from Microsoft. These updates are designed to patch issues with the software that can cause security risks or computer errors. As Tech Team members you are responsible for regularly running and installing updates. Each of the Bridge sites has a different system for completing these updates. Please look at your site below and follow the directions to update computers:

    • a note about thawing or unfreezing the Bridge Computers. You do not have permission to install any programs that are not first approved by the Bridge Staff. Do not install unauthorized programs. Persons caught installing unauthorized programs will be written up or terminated.**

Lincoln, Westwood, and Quigg Newton

1. Login to the computers using the administrator password (you'll need to get this from your Site Director).
2. Click on the shortcut for Windows SteadyState.
3. Click on the link for Hard Disk Protection.
4. Select "keep all changes permanently."
5. Accept the changes and close the SteadyState window.
6. Go to the Start Menu | All Programs | Windows Update.
7. Have the computer scan for updates.
8. Select the express install and install updates.
9. Restart the computer. You will be asked to save changes and then continue.
10. Login again with the administrator password.
11. Open Windows SteadyState.
12. Click on the link for Hard Disk Protection.
13. Select "Remove Changes at Restart."
14. Check that task on your weekly checklist.

Columbine

1. Use the key combination CTRL-ALT-Shift-F4 to bring up the Deepfreeze unlock screen.
2. Type in the password "bridgethaw."
3. Select "unfreeze" for the next 2 restarts.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Login using the administrator password (you'll need to get this from your Site Director).
6. Go to the Start Menu | All Programs | Windows Update.
7. Have the computer scan for updates.
8. Select the express install and install updates.
9. Restart the computer at least twice to put it back in "frozen" mode.
10. Check that task on your weekly checklist.
